This series focuses on the slow destruction and decomposition of gravestones. Created to be an eternal marker of someone’s final resting place, gravestones are immediately subject to slow reabsorption and reclaiming by the surrounding environment. The decomposition process of these man-made obstructions is a slower reflection of what is happening to the human body within the ground. These images capture different stages of this slow, natural rot.
